Decorating Cents

When I was a little girl, my dad unconsciously jingled the change in his pockets. Constantly.  He jingled at home, he jingled while shopping, he even jingled in church while we were singing hymns.

After repeated reminders to stop the jingling, my mother found a solution.  When he arrived home from work, she had him put all of his change in a 5 gallon glass water jug.  He no longer put change in his pockets in the mornings.  Even though he did accumulate a bit of change throughout the day, this seemed to make the jingling stop.

I don't remember what happened to the change jar.  Presumably the money was emptied, counted and spent.  It probably took awhile to count because the coin most frequently found in a change jar seems to be the lowly penny.

You're probably thinking, "Of course you'd spend them.  What else would you do with all those pennies?"  I'm sure you've heard of "decorating for pennies".  How about decorating with pennies?

Making art with pennies would seem like it would be a challenge but these artists make simple pennies simply beautiful.

This really is

Mike and Annie Moore of McKitterick, CA had an idea that may be an interior designer's nightmare but it's perfect for Mike & Annie's Penny Bar.  When these penny hoarders bought a small roadside bar, Annie suggested that they decorate the bar with pennies.  The New York Times has the story of this unique bar.  You can also find out more about the Penny bar on their Facebook page.   Here are a few of photos of their bar.

Although the next rest of the items aren't decorations, they are still items adorned with pennies.  They were so interesting that I had to include them.

While pennies may not be something you'd expect to find embellishing a piece of clothing, here are pieces from two imaginative designers.

I'm a bit curious about this one.  There's a bit of the back story on the link below.
